Some things that interest me are human rights, the environment, gender & sexuality, science, and health.
Sometimes I make art about these themes. …also, I make monsters.

T Flohr is a Canadian artist living and working in Ottawa. They studied Industrial Design at Carleton University, a background that encouraged them to approach subject matter with empathy and keen curiosity. As a nonbinary person, T uses their art to explore concepts of gender and sexuality, using the isolation that stems from identifying outside of social expectations as inspiration. Growing up, science fiction and fantasy media provided comfort while fueling their imagination and these motifs of monsters and magic deeply influence their work today.

By using surrealist visuals and nature motifs, T tries to capture the juxtaposition of the grotesque and the beautiful in our identities. They celebrate monsters and humans alike, particularly the monstrous and magical act of being loud in a world that would rather have people be quiet and complacent.

Their goal is to create art for those on the outside, on the edges and margins, by welcoming those parts of identities that people often feel must remain hidden.

T started participating in the Ottawa art community in 2015, showing their work at art markets and fairs. They had their first solo art show at Venus Envy in July 2019. T has also completed commercial art projects including logos, album artwork, and book covers.
